Fly Away

I’m home…

{Pelicans at La Jolla Cove}

…for now, anyway.

On Monday, I’m flying away (more like driving) to Bear Lake for the week to be with my beloved family. I’m SO excited to be with them and have a vacation…the sit-on-a-hammock-and-relax kind of vacation. Annnnnd, I’m making another one of THESE with my n&ns! It’s pretty much going to ROCK some socks.

I’m nearly ready to post my bazillions of photos from San Diego, just a bit more tweaking and they’ll be up. YAY! I love that place so mucho.

By-the-by, this video is beautiful. You will cry, but it's worth it.

Happy Sunday!
Love y'all!

San Diego Diaries

Dear Friends,

As far as I’m concerned we’ve spent far too much time inside today. We walked up and down the pier, but that’s about it. Dad’s been at meetings most of the day and Madre and I have been basking in the AC of the hotel room reading and napping…hey, we’re on vacation right?

Yesterday must’ve worn us out. We walked all over San Diego Zoo. It was jaw-dropping! I had no idea how massive that place was. Not only were the beautiful animals fun to watch, but the plants…let’s just say I took LOTS of pictures of flowers. I’m excited to show you.

Tonight we’re going to see the San Diego Padres (baseball) play…Dad’s idea. It should be pretty fun though. I can appreciate the great American game of baseball when I want to. J I come from a family of 6 boys, after all. I was hoping we’d stop by Anthony’s yumalicious seafood restaurant tonight for clam chowder…but looks like we’ll be scarfin’ ballpark hotdogs behind the batting cage. Ah well…Go Padres!

Tomorrow I’m hoping to go to The Gaslamp District with Madre for window shopping (psh, yeah right!) and gelato! Maybe when Dad’s through with meetings we can go to La Jolla and the Temple. I love love those places the most!

Have a fabulous day, friends!

Your Friend with the ever-increasing farmer’s tan,

Ok Go

(Last post for today. I just got carried away again)

Tell me that I’m not the only one that is completely dumb-founded and awed by Ok Go and their fabulously creative music videos:

Question: Shall I continue to let you rock my world with your awesomeness?

Answer: Ok, Go!

Hungry All Over

My feet are hungry for sandy beaches

My back is hungry for a brutal massage

My stomach is hungry for taco soup

My brain is hungry for a new semester

My shins are hungry for torture (shin splints)

My hands are hungry for B&BW lotion

My voice is hungry for arias and jazz

My teeth are hungry for their first filling L

My hair is hungry for the length it once knew

My heart is hungry for change

My eyes are hungry for a good night’s sleep

In short, if my body were a stomach it would be growling at me.

My job during the summer.

S!O!S!

ME in GD

I heard a quote recently that went something like this:

“Take what you love to do when you’re bored

and make it your career.”

Don’t mind if I do.

Like An Egg

I cracked.

I had to.

I’m currently undergoing the SLOWEST, DRAGGINGEST, most MIND-NUMBING & MONOTONOUS work shift in the history of the universe!!!! (that’s 4 exclamation points worth of boring)

No WAIT . . . . . . .

Ok, yes. Yes I am.

So, here’s the slightly incoherent update of my latelies:

room cleaning. book of mormon reading. spray-on tanning. half marathon training. school clothes shopping. orange nail painting. boring working. sister sleepovering. double cousin blind-dating. karaoking. amazon scouring. facebook breaking. brother logo designing. 5am waking. salad eating. ‘losing it with jillian michaels’ watching. school scheduling. madre cooking. parade-spot saving. walking and walking. googling. feet itching. bus commute napping. chocolate craving. nothing but ponytailing. not so good sleeping. shin splinting. blog book making. emailing . . . and somehow still breathing. not complaining.

PHEW!

Hope you're all enjoying the remaining drops of summer, too!

P.S. Smile.

P.P.S. Are you smiling? Good.

Room To Breathe, Room To Grow

Time to take a weeklong vacation from the computer, cause this week is my last full week of being home before I’m San Diegoing and Bear Laking. Before I know it I’ll be back in the full swing of schoolular craziness. Home needs all the attention I have to give. So much good stuff to get done. See y’all next week!

Check stuff off your list, it's empowering!

One Song

If I could only have one song to listen to for the rest of my life, I’d strongly consider this one:

*sigh*

When I started playing it tonight, Madre went, "Awwww."

Me too, Madre! Gets me right in the heart every time.

Snow White & Me

I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for Snow White. When I was little I was convinced I looked just like her. I was even made “Snow White” in the school play in third grade. I had the bob haircut and the coloring (minus the pale skin). Just disregard my crooked-teeth and giant glasses and we were basically the same person…

Even now I can’t help finding other similarities between my favorite princess and myself.

For example:

-I like to make friends with birds and squirrels

-I do a lot of cleaning in my free time

-I love to sing really high as often as possible

-I often dream of my prince charming coming to save me from my (sometimes) dismal circumstance

-I like to cook

-I think short, little old men are adorable

-I have a weakness for apples

and

- I never stop making wishes and dreaming

Ah-hem.

Now, if you'll excuse me while I go clean my room with fury woodland creatures.

I'm not stupid...

…I’m just really good at acting.

Stupid Lesson #1:

When the bottle of self-tanning mist says,

“Spray…at arm’s length”

It means it!

Stupid Lesson #2:

Don’t run outside in the sun when it’s 92 degrees.

Stupid Lesson #3:

Don’t try out the new-fangled “bare foot running” technique when it’s 92 degrees outside.

Stupid Lesson #4:

Football turf is NOT a cool relief to burning feet like grass is

…so book it to the shade and put your socks back on.

Yep, yep, yep.

All in a days work!

I’d show you pictures of my blistered feet and “sun-streaked” legs

…but I’m not THAT stupid ;)

How boring would life be if you couldn't laugh at yourself once in a while?

P.S. I just have a lot to say today, I guess. Tell you what, I'll give y'all a breather for the next couple of days…let you catch up, you know ;) Have a lovely weekend!

No Ordinary Beings

This made me cry.

Unfortunately, I think we forget our divine worth all too often.

I’m pretty sure if my heart could smile, it would be right now.

Unliking The Like Button

I have a prediction about Facebook:

Someday, people will be able to [Like] the fact that I [Like]d a post that they have previously [Like]d and the list of [Like]ings will take over the world (wide web, that is)

…I don’t know if I [Like] that idea.

Dear Facebook, I wish I had the strength to permanantly [Unlike] button you and forever rid myself of your obnoxious technological trendiness...

My 3rd Eye - Day 50: To Thine Own Self Be True

I got this ring while I was down at the Shakespearean Festival and I love it.

What a great reminder!

Thank you, Bill!

(aka William Shakespeare)

My 3rd Eye - Day 49: All The World's a Stage

Yep, you guessed it (did you guess it?), the beginning of this week was spent at our beloved Shakespearean Festival in Southern Utah. Here we are at the fabulous Green Show before Tuesday night’s performance of “The 39 Steps” by Alfred Hitchcock. We also saw “Great Expectations(the musical) by Charles Dickens and “Tarzan(the musical) down at Tuacahn. Gotta love live theatre!

{the ever-fabulous Green Show, before each night’s plays}

All of the performances were packed with truly amazing talent. Our only regret was that we didn't get tickets to a Shakespeare play …or Edmond Rostand, for that matter. Remember how I’m obsessed with his writing?

Welp, there’s always next year!

If you've never been to the Utah Shakespearean Festival...you're due for a visit!

*Last year's Shakespearean adventure*

My 3rd Eye - Day 48: Old School

Madre has a mild obsession with antiques, and her favorite antique shop is in Cedar City. I’ve only ever been interested in the jewelry before. This time, however, I bought an antique framed magazine cover (way cooler than it sounds) and was brutally tempted by these antique cameras… Maybe someday.

PPP - Don't Weight, Just Do It!

*PPP = Pinky Promise Project for more PPP posts go HERE

Dad and I are training for a half marathon,

Then, a triathalon (YIPES!)

And then, maybe even a marathon (Honesty?!? 26.2 miles!!).

Call me crazy, but I want to be able to say that I’ve done it… And that’s not because I feel like I have to prove anything to anyone, but I do want to prove to myself that I’m stronger than I sometimes think I am.

As our dear friend Christopher Robin says,You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

Besides, I have a mild addiction to running… And for those of you who don’t know, running has been proven to be “The Fountain of Youth of exercise."

Not a bad addiction, I’m thinking right now.

. . .

Basically, what I’m driving at is Nike’s catchphrase:

It’s as simple as getting up and moving.

What do you want to do?
Run a 5k? Learn a dance? Hike a mountain? Play with your kids? Eat better? Lose weight? Change your life? Make a goal and…
Just Do It!

Take whatever it is that’s stopping you and chuck it out the window. You don’t deserve to just live, you deserve to enjoy life by being healthy so that you can…because YOU CAN!
I promise.

One of the most brilliant quotes I’ve ever heard is by Maryanne Williamson:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

I know there is unfathomable greatest within each and every one of us and that we are here that we might have joy (2 Nephi 2:25).
So, my challenge to you is this:
Don’t Weight,
Just Do It!

It's up to you to determine what “it” is. Then, simply go for "it," because YOU CAN!

Live Life!

Annnnnnnd, so...
in short,
I think you’re all awesome!

That is all.

Breather

Holy moly, I am TIRED...oly!

I feel like I haven’t been home this whole summer…

which, of course, is a mild exaggeration...

but mostly true.

I am blessed to go on so many fun vacations,

I am absolutely 100% aware of this blessing,

But…

I. Love. Being. Home.

Nothing compares to home.

photos of my most recent adventures coming shortly

P.S. Um, CELLO! You guys & gals bring eye-to-eye smiles to my face! Thank you ever so much for your lovely commentations. I love hearing from you! :D Keep it up!

Happy Day!

Do something fabulous,

like blowing bubbles OR sidewalk chalk OR cloud-gazing!

Hm...don't mind if I do.

Post Happy

I went a little post happy today, so be sure to take a gander at the Blog Archive (located conveniently in the left sidebar) to catch up with "The Many Summer Adventures of Lindsay Kay."

I must say, you people are sure quiet lately...

(knock knock on the computer screen)

Lindsay Kay's Blog-Stalker Rule #1: Never leave a blog without a comment.

(not that you have to follow it, but I wouldn't mind ;) )

Don’t be afraid to leave a quick (or lengthy) commentation and I'll be sure to pop on over to your neck of the cyber-woods and do the same for you!

Thanks mucho,
