The Blue Bombers

This handsome group of little gentlemen are my brother's soccer team. Last Saturday I had the opportunity of taking their team pictures and watching my two nephews run around the soccer field. Let me tell you, they are pro...and stinkin adorable. See...
The final prints won't be in sepia tone, but I love the idea of looking at old team pictures, like this (photo credit). Let's be honest, I'm obsessed with old photos like this:

This is my nephew running the ball down the field like a streak of blue lightning (proud aunt moment).

Travis

This is my male model friend...
Ok, ok he just happens to look and dress like a male model.

Thank you everyone for your patience while I edit your fabulous pictures.
Busy time of year, but we're getting 'er done!

Autumnesque

This weekend isn't over and I have already done some fabulously fun things!

Yesterday Travis and I went to Memory Grove and shot pictures for a couple hours. Lots of fun! I've been wanting to capture this beautiful season for a while, so I'm glad we got to do it.
Thanks Trav!

And of course we did some portraits. More photos of Travis here
Travis is pro, you should check out his photography blog here
Then, Nicole and I got all dressed up for a "pre-ween" party!
Doesn't get much better than Cruella and a peacock!

Happy Harvest, cute people!

Love, Leprosy, Lipstick & Lingo

Did you know that
"101 Dalmatians" and "Peter Pan" are the only two Disney animated movies
with both parents present and alive throughout the movie.

The other day I learned that 0 points in tennis is referred to as "love"
because (ideally) you just play for the love of the game.

Yesterday I was talking on my cellphone and my earrings kept clinking against it.
That was obnoxious...like trying to talk over a really loud wind chime.

Have you ever made pancakes with a turkey baster?
I highly recommend it!

This H1N1 thing really has people freaked out.
Last week when I was sick, I'd cough aloud (into my elbow, of course)
and, the way people looked at me, you'd think I had leprosy.
I don't, by the way...

Speaking of which, did you know that
Armadillos are the only animal besides humans that can get leprosy?

Today, I bought some awesome red lipstick.
It's for my Halloween costume (stay tuned, it's gonna rock),
but I can't help but wonder if I could pull it off in real life...

You know how it is with lipstick,
some people should just avoid the red!

Jiffy, aside from being my favorite brand of peanut butter,
is an actual unit of time for 1/100th of a second.

Have you ever noticed how some things are just
not as fun when you "have to" do them?

Like, for me, playing the piano.
I did not like taking lessons growing up so I quit,
(well, technically I got fired) but now I play everyday.

Why don't spelling and grammar matter when you're texting and IMing?
i.e. " wut r u ^ 2 dawg "
Do we have to find the lazy-way-out of every intelligent thing in this world,
I mean really...

In fact, I proof read everything that I write,
Papers, emails, blog posts, messages, texts.
I'll probably fix this post at least 15 times before I leave it alone
(I've published and "unpublished" it about 6 times already).

Have something random to say?

Love y'all!

Heartwarming

Today I got an email from Dad. He's in Florida with Madre on an annual business trip. A business trip, mind you, that is usually the same week as Fall Break. This year, to my dismay, was different. So the parentals are Floridizin' it up, basking in the sun of that man-made beach at the Disney World Resort smack dab in the middle of that oh-so quant dreamland that I love!

Photos from last year's fabulous Florida extravaganza:
This was the first real vacation that I went on with my new SLR.
As you can see, I got some good practice.
The ever-so quaint Boardwalk. Seriously, Disney Heaven...*sigh*

See, I always take pictures of squirrels!
Park-hoppin passes...feel the power!
Check out our sweet jumpin' skills. Aerosmith's Rock & Roller Coaster!
A dash of Star Wars...for John. I love my siblings!
Of course the lobbies have furniture like this, it's Disney!

Me? I'm here in the beautiful but brisk Autumn weather, going to school, working, and just being plain busy. Not a favorable alternative to Disney Heaven in my opinion. I'm sure missing Orlando a lot, and for once I'm not talking about Orlando Bloom.

So, to pick myself up out of the beginning stages of a pity party, I've decided to write a grateful list. Have I ever shared with you what I love about cold weather?
No? Well good heavens, I shall tell you.

I love bundling up in blankets, crackling fires, mini-mallows in hot cocoa, doing dishes in hot soapy water, pulling out winter clothes, space heaters, sunshine through the window, warm bubble baths, mittens, fuzzy socks, seeing my breath, reading in bed, pink fuzzy robe, warm hugs, wearing sweats to bed, cute but not-so-waterproof boots . . .

Can you think of anything I left out?
I love y'all!

Busy

...with lots of editing to do, school and work, but I had to post a picture from a shoot on Saturday. Love it! More to come.

Sunday

: the perfect ending of a great week &
the perfect beginning of an even greater week

Something-ophobia

There is something that gives me the heeby-jeebies more than even spiders. That is saying something because I am pretty sure that, aside from my friend Sarah, I'm the world's biggest arachnophobe! But no, there is an insect worse (heaven forbid) than spiders...or at least spiders native to Utah!

It's massive,
it has super long and wiggly antennae,
freakishly disgusting and obscurely-jointed limbs,
a pair of big googly eyes with black, pupil-like specks that follow you when you move,
and
it flies!
(that is what tips the scale for me!)

Do you see what I see?
No?

How 'bout now!

BAAAHHH! Oh the horror!

See what I mean about the pupil-things?

Ew! *shudder*
Luckily, these guys are less likely than spiders to be found in your house. Can you imagine?

Ok, so now you're probably thinking,
"Hey Loony! Why did you take so many close-ups if you despise it so much?"

A great question!

I have this weird fetish of taking pictures of creatures (creepy or cuddly) as close as I possibly can. Hence my many squirrel photos. I've always had this random dream to be discovered by National Geographic for my brave and daring 'Steve Irwin'esque skills.

For now, I will attempt to contain my ambitions to the vast unknown of
...the backyard (dun dun dun)!

Speaking of "wild things"
I can't wait to see this tonight!

Have a lovely day everyone
and ...watch your step!
