Busy vs. Boredom, Blog Book, Birds, Bacon & Beyoncé

They say that post-graduation is often accompanied by boredom due to endless amounts of free time and such. And yes, that may be partially true, but I have really been enjoying my free time. See! I'm FINALLY designing my blog into a physical book, starting with 2009 and so on.

I love Adobe InDesign :) I'd go with Blurb or some other free internet book-designing software, but I love having complete control of what goes in and what comes out...

Graphic design has turned me into an aesthetic nitpicker. And proud of it :)

Speaking of things I'm proud of, my nephew calls extension cords "extendable" cords ;) And, on Sunday, my other nephew ran around the house singing,
"Weasley is our king! Weasley is our king!"

So, it's safe to say I'm not the only one in my family that has an affinity for Mr. Potter :)

Speaking of dancing... ;)

You: "Who said anything about dancing?"
Me: Oh! Speaking of dancing...

I added "learn how to dance" to my bucket list yesterday.

I mean, I've always been a dance "appreciater," but that's completely different than being a dancer...which is completely different than being able to bust a move here and there...which I can do. So, I wanna learn something cool like hip-hop or tap or ballroom or breakdance.

"Anything is possible if you just believe."
("Cinderella Story" anyone?)

Speaking of possibilities, I'm going to be potentially profound for a moment, mostly because that's how I organize my endless train of thoughts...

I've discovered that it doesn't matter where you are in your life or how busy you may be, if you have a dream, simply take a step toward it in whatever way possible with each spare moment you can find, and by and by, you'll look back and see how far you've come and how much you've grown and...eventually that you've actually LIVED one of your dreams, rather than simply went on dreaming it. I call that "The Nike Point of View". Just do it.

Speaking of Nike... I'm walking out of the gym yesterday morning after a really good workout, wearing my Nike gear, feeling awesome, and guess what smell slaps me right in the face...

BACON.
Yep, from some breakfast bbq taking place at the park next door.

Cruel and unusual.

Speaking of bacon (ok, this has nothing to do with bacon)...Ya know how it's been raining the whole entire ocean onto Utah lately?

Yeah, that stinks, cause June is...tomorrow, but I've noticed something happy about the birds (at least the ones around my house). They LOVE this wet weather... At least, their increase of beautiful singing makes me assume they do. Y'know, kinda like how we humans sing in the shower ;)

It's a theory, but I think it's valid.

Speaking of singing, there are very few songs that I can continuously rock out, too...mostly because I get sick of those new, overplayed songs SO quickly. However, Katy Perry's "Firework" and Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" hit me right in the groove thang EVERY time! ;) I can't help but dance and sing-along to those two.

- - -

Speaking of Beyoncé, my friend Carrie told me a HILARIOUS joke that I feel needs to be shared with the world, because I honestly laughed all night long post-joke-telling. Ready? K...ah-hem...

"Why does Saturn look the way it does?"

"Because...God liked it, so he put a ring on it."

OH Oh oh ;)
Spread it like wildfire. You know you want to.

Speaking of randomosity, perhaps you've noticed, or more-likely you haven't, but I just renamed all of my "Randomosity" posts. Why? Cause using roman numerals was getting to be too confusing...not to mention lame. Who uses roman numerals anymore? Just kiddin', but I had fun! Want to see the new names? Ok, I'll let you:

Randomosity Part I = Belts, Bands, Bugs & Because
Randomosity Part III = Love, Leprosy, Lipstick & Lingo
Randomosity Part IV = PDA, Pizzazz, Patronage & Pins
Randomosity Part V = Warm, Wrong, Wishing & Washing
Randomosity Part X = Guys, Good & Going Green Garbage
Randomosity Part XI = Cookies, Carats, Creepers & Capitals

What are you doing on your computer?
You should be outside enjoying this beautiful day!

Feather-Brained

Wemembo my ado-abo witto featho'd fwends?
(Translation: Remember my adorable little feathered friends?)

These sweet yellow ones that look like Tweedy Bird are called Gold Finches and they hang out all day long right outside our kitchen window. Our other visitors include families of quail, house sparrows, house finches, bluejays, a hawk, and a couple of birds with black heads whose name I can't remember right now.

Yep, I'm a bird nerd,
But I love it.

I honestly think that taking a moment each day to appreciate some of Heavenly Father's most beautiful creations is one of the things that brings the most happiness and perspective to my life. Thank you, birdies! :)

They're cute, huh?

My 3rd Eye - Day 45: T-gull

It’s somewhat of an inside joke…

…and at the same time, it’s the State Bird of Utah,

so…

My 3rd Eye - Day 42: That Darn Cat!

Last week or so, Madre discovered several new additions to our backyard aviary: Daddy and Mommy Quail with 8 tiny little babies living in our garden window well, hidden behind a shrub. They were (yes “were,” I’m getting to that) so fun to watch and hear their precious little chirpings… unfortunately we weren’t the only ones who watched and/or heard them.

Have I ever told you that I strongly dislike cats? There are few exceptions, i.e. Jalene’s cat Rusty and a cat in my sister’s neighborhood named Garfield, but basically all other cats, me no likey! Here are several of my reasons:

b) They’re lazy

c) I’m deathly allergic to them

d) They scratch

e) They think they own the world

f) They keep me up at night

g) That one scene from “Lady and the Tramp”

h) They’re creepy, especially at night with their glowing eyes

…you get the point

So, you may have noticed that I left out reason A. Well here it is:

a) They hunt down and kill (not eat, just kill) poor defenseless baby quail and leave their little broken bodies all over my yard!

My apologies to you cat lovers, but that’s pretty L.A.M.E. if you ask me! Poor Mommy & Daddy Quail!

That is the end of my tragic quail…I mean tale.

The End.

My 3rd Eye - Day 16: Hum Along

Just catching up on some of my photos.
There are lots of birds, my apologies. I have a mild obsession these days. Enjoy! :)

My 3rd Eye - Day 12: New Neighbors

I'm slowly but surely turning into a bird watcher...

...psssst, hey guys...is that a nerdy hobby?

Psh, whatever! Like I care!
Look how AMAZINGLY COLORFUL my new friends are!

If this is nerdy, then strap some suspenders on me and tie my shoelaces together when I'm not looking, cause I am on cloud 9 here in my little aviary of a backyard! Cloud 9, I say!

P.S. These are technically TWO pictures, which you can label as either cheating or indecision...
But honestly, if given the choice between a Lazuli Bunting or a Western Tanager which would you pick? HA! THAT'S what I thought...

My 3rd Eye - Day 2: Twitterpated

We have birds.

They're kind of like our pets...but they take care of themselves.

They're cute little chubby house sparrows that have been building nests in our back patio awning for the past 5 or so years and they're absolutely fascinating and adorable.

This year another sparrow couple moved in on the other side of the awning and Madre put out some bird feeders. Let me tell you, it's like having Animal Planet or the Discovery Channel playing 24/7 right outside our kitchen window. We've seen several batches of chicks born and learn to fly, sometimes the males fight over food and yes, we've even seen mating rituals...like the above picture (I know, isn't that terrible that I got a picture? How embarrassing). Nature at its best!

Pinky Promise Project starts up again on Monday!

GET PUMPED (literally)!
